People sometimes ask what we actually do all day. Spoiler: it’s muddier and more wonderful than it sounds. Here’s a real day in the life of Daz & Viv — the people behind the leads, walking dogs across Wythenshawe and South Manchester.
Early starts and happy faces
The first lead clips on around 7am. Often it’s a one-to-one with a dog who likes the quiet of an early morning — a gentle loop, a good sniff, and home before the world wakes up. Nervous dogs especially love having the place to themselves, which is exactly what our solo dog walking is built around.
The morning group walk
Mid-morning is the busy one: a small, temperament-matched group out together. We’re lucky — Wythenshawe Park, the Mersey Valley and the local fields are right on our patch, so there’s always somewhere good to go. Keeping a group calm and happy is the heart of our group dog walking, and as dog walkers in Northern Moor we know every gate, path and puddle.
Lunchtime visits and the odd taxi run
Not every dog wants a big walk. Lunchtime is often home visits and pet sitting — a toilet break, fresh water, a fuss and some company to break up a long day alone. Now and then it’s a pet taxi run to the vet or groomer, safely belted in and back home without the owner missing work.
Afternoon adventures
Some afternoons are the best part of the job: a proper dog adventure day — woods, water and space to really stretch out. Tired, happy, slightly soggy dogs, and a camera roll full of daft photos to send their owners.
Why we do it
Between the walks there’s washing leads, towel-drying muddy paws, and sending the photo updates owners love. It’s a lot — but every dog is treated like our own, and that’s the whole point.
