Short answer: The best dog walks in Wythenshawe are Wythenshawe Park (huge open parkland, woodland and the old hall grounds), Kenworthy Woods (shady riverside woodland by the Mersey) and the Mersey Valley trails linking towards Northern Moor and Sale. We walk all of them every week.
We’re Daz & Viv, and Wythenshawe is our home patch — we know which paths stay dry after rain, where the shade is on a hot day, and where your dog can have the best run. Here are our favourite local walks.
Wythenshawe Park
The jewel of the area: 270-odd acres of open parkland, mature woodland, formal gardens and the grounds of historic Wythenshawe Hall. There’s loads of space for a good run, plenty of trees for shade in summer, and quieter corners away from the busier areas. It’s our go-to for small-group walks — sociable, safe and endlessly sniffable.
Kenworthy Woods
Tucked along the River Mersey between Wythenshawe and Northern Moor, Kenworthy Woods is a lovely shaded woodland walk. Cooler on warm days and full of interesting smells, it’s perfect for dogs who love a proper woodland adventure — the kind of varied, enriching outing we build into our adventure walks.
The Mersey Valley & riverside
The trails along the Mersey link Wythenshawe with Northern Moor, Northenden and on towards Sale. Flat, open and great for a longer leg-stretch, with water never far away.
