Best Dog Walks in Timperley — The Dog Walkers, South Manchester

Timperley is a quietly brilliant spot for dog walks — a mix of pocket woodland, open parks and miles of flat canal towpath, with the big green of Sale Water Park right next door. Here are our favourites, from the walkers who do them every week.

The short answer

Our pick of Timperley dog walks: Timperley Dingle for shady woodland and a brook, Walton Park for open running, the Bridgewater Canal towpath for a long flat stroll, and Sale Water Park a few minutes away for a proper adventure.

Timperley Dingle

A lovely little hidden valley with mature trees, a babbling brook and shady paths — ideal on a hot day, and a brilliant sniffy walk for dogs who like to explore at their own pace.

Walton Park

Open grass, gentle paths and space to stretch the legs. Handy and rarely too busy, it’s a dependable everyday walk — the kind we build many of our group dog walks around.

The Bridgewater Canal towpath

Flat, long and easy underfoot, the canal is perfect for an older dog or a steady-paced wander. Keep an eye out for cyclists and the odd duck to ignore.

Sale Water Park (just next door)

For a bigger day out, Sale Water Park’s lake, meadows and Mersey-side trails are minutes away — a regular on our adventure days.
